About the Role

The Payroll Manager is responsible for the efficient and accurate provision of payroll and superannuation services for all HOST locations. Reporting to the CFO, this role will ensure accurate preparation of fortnightly payments in compliance with organisational, regulatory and statutory standards, performing in-depth analysis and reporting, and striving for system improvements across business units.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain information by designing systems and processes; facilitating the collection, calculation, interpretation and entering of data, ensuring compliance through the adherence to ATO, EBA, Award, Employment Contracts and other legislative requirements;

  • Prepare and process fortnightly payroll including Superannuation, PAYG various Taxation lodgements and termination payments in accordance with organisation and legislative requirements;
  • Act as System Administrator and champion for the HR3 software and provide training to relevant individuals;
  • Prepare month end journals and reconciliation of balance sheet accounts and other ad hoc reporting including compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, workcover, and nontaxable wages;
  • Remain abreast of relevant industry or legislative changes and utilise expert knowledge in emerging trends to provide advice;
  • Assist in providing support and training to HOST managers to ensure effective controls and monitoring are in place throughout the organisation, ensuring employee’s rights are protected adhering to legislative and regulatory compliance related to privacy and confidentiality at all times;
  • Work collaboratively within and across operational areas of the business to facilitate open communication, discussion and cooperation between stakeholders to achieve desired goals; and;
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of finance policies, processes and practices to support efficient and effective finance operations and reporting.

Essential Selection Criteria:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in performing end to end payroll processes, reconciliations and termination related payments, including experience processing foreign income
  • Expert knowledge of payroll and general HR practices, procedures and legislation
  • Contemporary knowledge of payroll legislation and regulations including compliance relating to foreign income
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience in developing and implementing system and process improvements within tight timeframes.
  • Experience using complex Finance and Payroll systems and intermediate skills in the use of Excel, Word and other Microsoft software produces.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to communicate, and where necessary, influence Payroll and Finance concepts to individuals at all levels and to a multi-disciplinary team of workers from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
